Hockey Canada The Shift Forward Program:
Commencing April 1, 2026, Hockey Canada will launch
‘The Shift Forward: Evolving Hockey Culture’, its
new National learning program that will serve as the home for education and training in creating a safe
and welcoming environment and empowering those who engage in the game to promote positive culture
change and manage and reduce unhealthy behaviours on and off the ice.
As part of a multi-year phase-in, existing training completed under the Respect in Sport (RiS) platform (including legacy ‘Speak Out’ qualifications) will continue to be recognized until the end of 2027-2028 season, following which the Shift Forward Programming will become the only mandated and recognized qualification.
As with the current Respect in Sport Program Requirements, the Shift Forward mandate will include all Team Rostered Team Officials, OMHA HCOP Officials, and parents/guardians.
