Hockey Fights Cancer™ was founded
in 1998 by the National Hockey League (NHL) and the National Hockey League
Players’ Association (NHLPA). Since its inception, the Hockey Fights Cancer™
program has resulted in donations of more than $28 million to support the
cancer programs of local and national cancer research institutions, children's
hospitals, player charities, and local charities. Funds raised in support of
Hockey Fights Cancer™ help the Canadian Cancer
Society (CCS), and Movember
to support people affected by cancer, their families, and caregivers.
During the month of November, Our Orangeville Flyers U18A Team will be Wearing Lavender Jerseys and socks and will be participating in a variety of fundraising activities including selling purple cowbells, ribbons, bracelets, pins and baked goods. Visit us at Alder Arena during our November home games and stop by our fundraising table to make a donation and collect your hockey Fights Cancer swag! Check our Team Calendar for updates and more information.

Some of the many ways Hockey Fights Cancer helps patients and survivors every year include:
•Lodging – Cancer patients and their families often need to travel away from home to get their treatments, some lasting weeks or months. Fan donations to Hockey Fights Cancer™ help the CCS provide cancer patients and caregivers with a welcoming, caring place to stay when traveling away from home for necessary treatment in the Canada. In fact, funds raised through HFC during the 2021 season are helping to provide over 5,000 nights of free lodging for patients and their caregivers.
•Transportation – Getting to and from appointments can be a source of stress for many patients with cancer. To help relieve this burden, donations through Hockey Fights Cancer™ helps to provide over 15,000 rides to treatment for patients every year
