Welcome to the Ray Hunt Memorial Tournament, proudly convened by Orangeville Minor Hockey. This tournament follows OMHA and Hockey Canada regulations to ensure fair play and safety for all participants.

Hockey Tournament Rules & Guidelines

 OMHA Sanction & General Regulations

This is an OMHA-Sanctioned Tournament. Tournament regulations and OMHA rules will apply. See www.omha.net.

Sanction Number: 30747 Sanction number (Hockey Canada & OMHA).

All decisions made by the Tournament Committee are FINAL.

There are no Appeal or Protest procedures during this tournament. All referee decisions are final.

ZERO TOLERANCE for misconduct and abuse from any player, coaching staff, or parent. Coaches are responsible for their players both on and off the ice.

Insurance & Liability

Insurance is the responsibility of each individual team. By registering, the team representative releases the tournament sponsors from any liability caused by injury or accident during participation.

Mandatory Equipment

Mouth guards must be worn by all OMHA-governed players.

Dressing Room Rules

Teams are responsible for any damage to dressing rooms and arena facilities. Report any damage to a tournament official before use.
Teams must ensure dressing room doors are locked. Tournament accepts no responsibility for loss or theft.
Access: 30 minutes prior to game; vacate within 20 minutes after game.

Proof of Eligibility & Compliance

Proof of OMHA eligibility age must be provided before or upon arrival with an approved roster.
All centres must have original approved rosters and travel permits or they will not be permitted to participate as per OMHA regulations.

Format

Each team is guaranteed 4 round-robin games.
Top teams advance to Semi-Finals, followed by a Championship Final.
Games will be played under OMHA rules unless otherwise stated.

Electronic Game Sheets

Coaching staff must report to the tournament desk at each arena 30 minutes prior to game start to verify the electronic game sheet and have the bench sign as per OMHA rules.

Rosters & Bench Officials

A total of 20 players (18 skaters and 2 goaltenders) may dress for a game.
Maximum of 5 team officials allowed on the bench: Coach, Trainer, Manager, Assistant Coach, Assistant Trainer.
All players must be registered on an official approved roster or approved AP list.

Jersey Requirements

Teams must bring two sets of jerseys:
• HOME team: WHITE/LIGHT jerseys
• VISITOR team: DARK jerseys

Game Duration & Curfew

Round-robin games: All games will be played at 10 10 15
No overtime in round robin games. Games may be curfewed to stay on schedule.
Running clock when a team leads by 5 or more goals in the third period; returns to stop time if differential drops below 5.
Teams must be ready to go on the ice up to 15 minutes prior to scheduled game time.

Points System

• Win: 2 points
• Tie: 1 point
• Loss: 0 points


Tie-Breakers

Two Teams Tied:
1. Head-to-head result
2. Most wins in round robin
3. Best goal differential (GF / (GF + GA))
4. Fewest penalty minutes
5. First goal scored in head-to-head game
6. Coin toss

Three or More Teams Tied:
7. Points among tied teams
8. Most wins among tied teams
9. Best goal differential (GF / (GF + GA))
10. Fewest penalty minutes
11. Coin toss

Semi-Finals & Finals

1st plays 4th and 2nd plays 3rd in Semi-Finals; winners advance to Championship.
Periods: All periods will be played at 10 10 15
One 30-second timeout per team allowed in Semi-Final and Final games.

Overtime & Shootout

Semi-Final & Final: One 5-minute overtime (5-on-5). If still tied, 3-player shootout; then sudden-death shootout.
Players cannot shoot again until all players have taken a shot.

Ice Maintenance & Warm-Up

Floods occur at the beginning of each game. No one allowed on ice until maintenance staff is off and doors closed.
Teams must wait until referees are on the ice before entering.
No warm-ups in stands during games. Portable speakers are allowed only in dressing rooms.

Discipline

Any player or team official ejected for a major or match penalty is removed for the remainder of the tournament.
Suspensions must be served during the tournament as per OMHA rules.
Checking from behind penalties enforced as per OMHA rules.

Notes & Customization

Cowbells and similar hand-held noisemakers are permitted to encourage team spirit.
Air horns, electric horns, or any other amplified noise devices are strictly prohibited inside the arena for safety and comfort reasons.
